THE ORIGIN JOURNAL

Before the cup, get to know the place.

Pu’er is one of Yunnan’s coffee-growing regions. Let the landscape invite you in, then look closer at the farm, the process and the individual lot before making a sourcing decision.

Landscape & growing conditions

Terrain, local climate and farm practices can influence coffee development. Ask for the growing location, harvest period and traceability records for each lot. No region-wide altitude or climate figures are assumed here.

Processing, in practice

Washed processing removes fruit before drying; natural processing dries coffee in the fruit; honey processing retains some mucilage. The same label can cover different practices. Ask suppliers how fermentation, drying and storage are managed.

Variety & cup profile

Variety alone does not determine cup quality. Request the supplier’s variety records, a current sample and the method used to assess it. We do not assign unverified cup scores or regional flavor guarantees.

Questions for your next sample

Confirm harvest season, processing, moisture information, defects, sample representativeness and lot traceability. Agree specifications and inspection steps before making a purchase.
